The UnNoticed Entrepreneur
I've been quiet, but I'm back with big changes to serve you better
In this episode, I share what I’ve been up to lately, including launching my new website and magazine for The Unnoticed Entrepreneur.
I talk about how you can now read articles, listen to podcast episodes, and even interact with my digital twin to ask questions.
I’ve also updated my YouTube channel to make it more focused.
I announce a special series of interviews with entrepreneurs from the NatWest Accelerator program and invite you to let me know what kinds of guests and topics you want to hear about.
My goal is to build a more interactive relationship with you, so I’ll be adding a survey and doing more solo insight episodes. I also encourage you to sign up for my newsletter so we can stay connected in every format.
Oh...and a new theme tune sound designed by Alfie, an 18 year old aspiring DJ who lives in my village here in Wiltshire.

Hey, it's Jim here. I know that I have not been around so much, so I want to take this opportunity to first of all apologize. I've been offline. I want to explain why I've been offline, what's happening and what's coming next on the Unnoticed Entrepreneur. A couple of things, then, to share with you. First of all, I built a new website, a new magazine, and it's at theunnoticedentrepreneurcom. I have started to post on their articles and I've embedded the player so that you can actually listen to the article if you want to, and there is also an embed of the podcast episode. So the idea is that you can listen to the article that I've written. You can listen to the episode that's there, because they're not quite the same thing. One is a summary of the other, and then I've also added in a player which can follow you across the different pages so that you can actually listen to a podcast whilst you're reading. The idea is that it becomes really one page with different ways to interact with the content. And, speaking of interaction, what I've also done is to embed the digital twin that I have, which is really indexed on all the podcast interviews, so when you have a question, you can actually just click on the little orange dialogue box in the bottom right-hand side of the screen and it'll take you to the digital twin and you can ask questions of not just me but the battalion of entrepreneurs who have been on the show. So the idea is that then you can listen to the show, you can read about the show and also then you can ask questions as well.
Jim James:I've still got the YouTube of course channel and I've updated that as well, and you can find that at the Unnoticed Entrepreneur as well. That's a bit more streamlined. I've removed some of the dead lists that I had there and removed some of the personal items that I had on there, because what I was understanding was that YouTube doesn't know how to categorize a channel if it has all kinds of random information on there. I had things like my dad speaking about his life story and I had me planting some trees. Things like my dad speaking about his life story and I had me planting some trees. Interestingly enough, both of those were very popular, but maybe that's a story for another channel. So I've tidied up the channel, and the other thing that I have as big news is a pilot that's being run with the NatWest Bank. Natwest Bank in the UK is one of the largest banks, and we have created three episodes with entrepreneurs based in the UK that have been involved in the accelerator, and I've interviewed those three down here in Bristol, actually as a pilot. So you will hear three peoplelotte lang, who's built a content agency. Charlie taylor, who has built a wine bar because he was allergic to wine and so he's built a wine bar to solve that problem. And also amber probin, who, along with her co-founder, hazel mcshane, started the world's first women's urinal called Picole, and they're supplying those to the London Marathon, for example at the Glastonbury. Three great stories, three interviews. There are also, then, videos of those on YouTube, and what I've also done is to make those into articles on the new magazine website, so you'll find the fully-fledged sponsored-by-NatWest articles, and those are appearing on the Thursday first of all, coming out on Thursday the 22nd, then 29th and then June the 5th.
Jim James:I have not been posting as many episodes generally and I have a large backlog of people that have applied to be on the show About 30 applicants are in my review list guests and what kind of information you would like me to find for you, because I have all manner of people apply to come and share the mic. Everyone has a great story, but I'm mindful of sharing information no one's interested in and I'm interested in really serving you with finding the answers. So I'm going to actually put a survey form on theunnoticedentrepreneurcom so you could let me know what kind of questions you'd like me to ask of what kind of guests. So what problems are you trying to solve? I can go and find those people and ask those questions and get you the answers. What I want to try and do going forward is to build really a much deeper and better relationship with you. I have been creating content over 800 episodes but I haven't really managed to connect with you. You haven't told me what you need and I probably am guilty of not asking you enough what you need. I've had this deluge of people applying to be on the show and I have been grateful they wanted to come on the show, been fascinated by all of their stories, but this is supposed to be a two-way medium, not just a one-way medium, and so this show is for you, not for me. Actually, I'm here to serve you with solving the problems that you have.
Jim James:The NatWest Accelerator interviews are a little bit different. They are a full-fledged business interview. We talk about pricing, we talk about raising money, we talk about cash flow, we talk about people, we talk about mindset. If you find that a more interesting and broader interview, then also let me know, because I'm also questioning the focus of the show. Should I expand it to include a slightly broader remit, or should I stay on the more functional side of marketing and even dive into the AI and how AI is being used, or is it a bit of all of those things the AI and how AI is being used or is it a bit of all of those things?
Jim James:I do work as a business coach and I've just recently won a very large client out of America, which is wonderful, and that's teaching me again what it's like to be an entrepreneur and just some of the questions that they are facing, and I have some clients here that I coach as well with their branding and business strategies, and that's also a source of inspiration for the show lineup. You let me know the kind of questions that you've got and the kind of problems that you're facing, and I will do my best to find the answers In the next three weeks. You are going to have NatWest Accelerator entrepreneurs coming on the mic on Thursdays and on a Tuesday I'm going to get involved by doing my insights. I haven't done this very much since I first started the podcast and when I started the podcast back in 2019, 2020, I actually recorded over 200 episodes, with just me speaking six, seven days a week. I was in the garden shed during lockdown. I must've been mad, but I certainly nearly drove myself mad, which is why I started to interview people.
Jim James:Some of those early shows are still some of the highest ranked shows, like what we could learn about PR by the withdrawal of the American troops from Afghanistan. I did a case study on the PR around the messaging on the American troops coming out of Afghanistan, for example. I don't necessarily get political, but I have observations. I can talk about things that are trending, but I can also talk about some of the challenges that people are facing as they grow their business and also as they look to do things like appoint a PR firm or work with an agency.
Jim James:So I'm going to take a Tuesday where I do a shorter session, maybe 10, 15 minutes, where I share some of my insights and observations with you, so you can ask me questions that you'd like me to answer More than happy to do that. I have 30 years of experience running businesses in Singapore, china, india. I built teams. I've also worked in-house and run other people's companies. I'm going to work to bring that expertise on the Tuesdays. Thank you so much for listening and sign up to the newsletter at theunnoticedentrepreneurcom, because then we can stay in touch and then I can give you information in every format known to man. All right, have a great week.
